General insult using the persons mother as the weapon of attack - generally regard as humour in most circles:

For example
"Your trainers are shit" "Yeah? Well so is your mum!"
"The reasons your mum's so fat is because I give her a biscuit every time I fuck her!!"

    Has become a common way of attracting the attention of a friend or acquaintance; e.g. "Yo, come here."

  3. Used as a prefix to a greeting; "Yo, man, what's up?"
